A bench in memory of the late Ken Harper was unveiled by his family at The Imperial Hotel.
Mr Harper, who was from Telford spent 50 years holidaying with his wife Pat and their children, and latterly with their grand-children at The Imperial Hotel, and despite travelling the world Ken always said there was nowhere like Llandudno.
Ken and Pat stayed at The Imperial three to four times every year and their children Maria and Paul have fond memories of summer holidays in Llandudno, playing on the beach, donkey rides and travelling on the Llandudno Cable Car up to the Great Orme.
Pat, accompanied with Maria, Paul, son-in-law David and grand-daughter Megan presented the bench to The Imperial Hotel and said; “Ken loved everything about The Imperial and Llandudno and we have so many wonderful memories of very happy times here. He loved whiling away the hours sitting on The Imperial’s veranda or inside on The Terrace watching the world go by, and we hope the bench in his memory will allow other guests to create their own lasting memories.”
The bench made of green oak has the inscription; “In loving memory of Ken Harper who spent many happy times in Llandudno with family. Loved always and never forgotten Pat, Maria & Oler, Teresa, Paul & Megan”.
Son Paul continued: “Dad ran a successful and very busy painting and decorating business, Finnigan & Harper in Telford with his partner Peter Finnigan, so his holidays in Llandudno were the only place he truly relaxed. This is a fitting tribute and I think he would be proud.”
