Schools Out For Summer! Family Fun Activities To Enjoy

Enjoy classic beach days

Our seafront Llandudno hotel is the perfect base for families looking to spend days at the beach; playing, building and splashing. Head to North Shore, Llandudno is Wales’ largest resort and it’s the closest beach to your North Wales accommodation – on the doorstep of our hotel. A lovely sheltered area with a designated bathing zone, making it the perfect spot for family paddling or a relaxing swim.

West Shore in Llandudno is a 5-minute drive away or a 25-minute walk from our seafront hotel. It’s considered quieter than the more popular North Shore, offering a beautiful sandy beach facing Conwy Bay. At low tide it reveals a large stretch of sand and is popular with kite-flyers and kite-surfers. Slightly further away, but still just 15-minutes by car, reach Porth Eirias beach in Colwyn Bay. A welcoming family-friendly man-made beach with golden sands. Or discover Rhos-on-sea at Colwyn Bay. Just 12-minutes away from our Llandudno hotel, 3-mile bay begins at the harbour and leads to a sand and shingle beach.

Discover the Alice in Wonderland Trail

So, if you’re looking for family friendly activities when you visit, stop by the Llandudno Tourist Information Centre in the Victoria Shopping Centre to buy the detailed leaflet and trail map. The trail begins at the Llandudno Town Hall, a short 8-minute walk from our hotel.

Llandudno Pier

Everyone loves a pier! One of our favourite family-friendly attractions in Llandudno is just a 15-minute walk from our seafront hotel.

A picturesque Victorian promenade, our wonderful Llandudno Pier is 700 metres long, ‘stretching out into the Irish Sea, making it Wales’s longest Pier, and the fifth longest in the UK.’

The whole family will love the views, the attractions and traditional food stalls and shops as you walk along this iconic pier. Have a go on the Ferris Wheel, treat the kids to classic funfair rides, enjoy live music at the oceansbar, or sit and enjoy an ice-cold drink at the Pier Head Café.

Eryri (Snowdonia) Walks

Take on a family challenge, and try a new experience – walk to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) but do it in the safe hands of an expert guide with MountainXperience. Join a mixed group or book a private mountain guide and reach the top of Wales’ highest mountain.

But if that seems too much of a challenge, arrange a different walking experience, one that the whole family will love.

Visit our castles

Wales is known as ‘the land of castles,’ so this summer holidays be sure to head out and explore these stunning medieval fortresses. Our Llandudno hotel is the ideal base; spend a day visiting these fascinating historic sites, driving through picturesque North Wales and the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and discover some of the finest examples of medieval architecture just minutes from our Llandudno hotel’s doorstep.

From Conwy Castle just 15-minutes away by car to Caernarfon Castle, a scenic 40-minute drive away. Step back in time, take in the history our great castles, set in some of the most beautiful locations in North Wales.

Go to the circus

Take the whole family to the circus this summer. Peregrine Circus is on tour this summer and is coming to Llandudno.

An all new, local circus debuting from the 7th – 17th August, just 6 minutes from our Llandudno hotel, Robin Timson is bringing an all-human ‘village-green’ circus back to his home of North Wales.

This is just a small taste of what’s on this summer in and around Llandudno. So, start planning your summer holidays family break now; book your attraction tickets to avoid disappointment and have something great to look forward to.
