Why is Llandudno connected to Alice in Wonderland?
It is long believed that Lewis Carroll’s inspiration for his character of Alice came from a friend, Henry Liddell’s 8-year-old daughter, Alice Liddell. The story goes that in 1861 she visited Llandudno for the first of many North Wales holidays with her family and that Carroll, during a visit with the family at their holiday home, ‘Penmorfa,’ on Llandudno’s West Shore, enjoyed telling Alice fictional stories. One of these, about a little girl who fell into a rabbit hole and discovered a whole new world and many interesting characters…
