Cake, coffee and a good giggle was a money raising success

The Imperial Hotel raised £575.61 at its first ever Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 25 September.

Over 50 guests, including hotel residents, businesses and local residents enjoyed a traditional coffee morning with musical accompaniment from Robert Green playing the piano in the hotel’s Bodafon Room, and ably took up the challenge to guess the number of “Thousands and Ones” used to decorate a cake in the competition and try their luck at the prize draw raffle.

The hotel’s staff also rose to the fundraising task by holding their own their own Bake Off Challenge to provide an array of delicious cakes for the occasion.

Geoff Lofthouse, general manager commented; “It was the perfect Coffee Morning and I’d like to thank everyone who attended and supported us in our fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support. With their generosity our donation will pay for 21 hours of a Macmillan nurse’s time to spend with someone who has just been told they have cancer and that advice and counselling is invaluable.

“I’d also like to thank the local businesses that supported us with prizes for the competition and raffle and also to my staff who not only enjoyed their own Bake Off Challenge but for making some amazingly tasty cakes!”
