There’s more to Llandudno than meets the eye. This famous Victorian seaside resort has long been known for its impressive promenade, its grand Victorian Pier, the Great Orme and unique Victorian architecture, but what if you could visit this wonderful town and our seafront hotel and dig a little deeper, discovering some of the fascinating stories, history and people behind it all?
It’s easy to head away on a weekend break and miss the fascinating history of a place, but a guided tour offers the opportunity to see Llandudno differently. Rather than simply visiting its landmarks, you can discover why they are there, who created them and the captivating stories of the people who helped shape Llandudno.
This is where Llandudno Guided Tours come in; a local team of qualified White Badge Tourist Guides who want visitors to leave the town knowing more about it than when they arrived.

No Two Tours Are Ever the Same
“We don’t believe a guided tour has to be a fixed route with the same script every time,” explains the team. “We can tailor the history, route, length and timings around the people we are taking out, what interests them and what else they have planned during their stay.”
The team bring history and Llandudno to life, offering flexible timings and completely bespoke tours for every group.
“We don’t just want people to look at buildings; we want them to understand the people, events and stories behind them.”
Find out the fascinating local stories and lesser-known details that visitors would never find in history books.
“We love the unexpected stories, like the one about Major Cox, for example, the former head chef of The Imperial. He famously transformed wartime glass incendiary devices into butter dishes after the war!”
Flexible Bespoke Tours
Book a morning tour for an hour or two, a post-lunch meander through Llandudno or a full day.
“For one group we created a Great Orme experience incorporating the historic tramway, the Bronze Age Copper Mines and the history of the Great Orme, starting at midday so that it fitted perfectly around the rest of their plans.”
The company specialise in personalising their tours to the varied groups that book.
“We recently created a bespoke tour for around 30 Spanish authors from the Catalan region of Spain. For them, we incorporated Llandudno’s fascinating Alice in Wonderland connections into the wider story of the town.”

About Llandudno Guided Tours
With a background in hospitality, Joanne and Rodney completed the Conwy Tourism Ambassador Programme before going on to gain their official White Badge tourist guide qualifications.
“Over a cold, dark North Wales winter we spent our time learning about Llandudno’s history and, just as importantly, learning how to guide and look after a group properly.”
But for Joanne and Rodney, guiding isn’t simply about dates and facts.
“I love researching the stories, finding the little details and connections that people may not already know,” says Joanne.
“Rodney is very much the face of the tours. He loves dressing in character and is a natural storyteller. He has a wonderful ability to bring a story to life and make people feel as though they are standing there when it happened.”
“Llandudno has an extraordinary collection of stories, characters and connections, and we love being able to share them with visitors. If someone goes back to their hotel afterwards and says, I walked past that yesterday and had absolutely no idea that actually happened there, then we’ve done our job.”
Guests staying at The Imperial can arrange a bespoke tour designed around their interests and itinerary, with the experience beginning and ending at the hotel.
